CrossFit

What is CrossFit?  Originally developed by legendary coach Greg Glassman, CrossFit workouts consist of constantly varied functional movements executed with intensity. So what does that mean?  CrossFit is a fitness program that will help you reach your health and fitness goals regardless of your ability.  First, don’t be intimidated! People from all walks of life start at every level, and that means you can too.  Workouts are based on functional movements – the type of movements that we all do daily – and each workout can be tailored to your fitness level and ability.  The biggest misconception about CrossFit is that it’s elite fitness for athletes, but at CrossFit XA we believe it’s elite fitness for everyone!

Olympic Lifting

All members of CrossFit XA can sign up for our free Olympic Lifting class, which meets every other Saturday from 8-9am.  Olympic Weightlifting, also known as weightlifting, is an Olympic sport and has been in every Summer Olympic Games since 1920.  This is what enables our bodies to be more stable in daily activities by improving things like body composition, work capacity, muscular power and strength, range of motion, and coordination.  Overall, Olympic lifting can be an effective way for athletes to improve their physical and mental performance, making it an important component of many training programs in a variety of sports, such as CrossFit.

Mobility Class

Mobility – the “ability of a joint to move actively through a range of motion… based on movement and motor control.”

All members of CrossFit XA can sign up for our free Mobility Class, which meets every other Saturday from 8-9am.  This class is led by our certified in-house Workout Recovery Specialist and uses a variety of techniques that concentrate on these areas:

  • Shoulders
  • Hips
  • Thoracic
  • Ankles
  • Knees
  • Lumbar

Massage Therapy

Who can benefit from massage therapy?  Fitness newcomers, amateur athletes, professional athletes, and everyone in between!  Massage therapy is used to enhance wellness and help all people cope with the pain and stress of various conditions by manipulating the soft tissues of the body. Practiced in most cultures, both Eastern and Western, massage therapy was one of the earliest tools that people used to try to relieve pain.

Contact our massage therapist, Alicia, at [email protected] or by phone at: 480.216.4804 to make an appointment today!
